Review Process & Accuracy Standards
- Formula verification: All formulas are cross-verified against at least two independent authoritative sources before publication.
- Last reviewed date: Displayed on every calculator page. Health and finance calculators are reviewed and updated at minimum annually, or whenever source guidelines change.
- Error reporting: Found an error? Email us at hello@icalcapp.com with the page URL and the specific issue. We aim to investigate within 48 hours.
- Limitations: All calculators produce estimates based on standard formulas. They are educational and informational tools β not professional medical, financial, or legal advice. Consult a qualified professional for decisions with significant personal or financial impact.
Methodology by category
Our calculation standards are applied consistently across all categories:
- Finance calculators β EMI, SIP, and investment formulas follow RBI guidelines and standard banking mathematics. Tax calculations reference CBDT circulars and Income Tax Act provisions. See: EMI Calculator Β· SIP Calculator Β· Income Tax Calculator
- Health calculators β BMI uses WHO and ICMR Asian cutoffs. Calorie/TDEE uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation (most validated for non-clinical use). Blood pressure classification follows WHO/ISH 2020 guidelines. See: BMI Calculator Β· TDEE Calculator
- Math calculators β All formulas follow ISO 80000 standards and standard mathematical definitions. See: Percentage Calculator Β· Area Calculator

Practical examples of formula verification
EMI Calculator β verified against RBI reducing-balance standard
The EMI formula used is: EMI = P Γ r Γ (1+r)βΏ Γ· [(1+r)βΏ β 1] where P = principal, r = monthly interest rate (annual rate Γ· 12 Γ· 100), and n = tenure in months. Verification test: βΉ10,00,000 loan at 8.5% for 20 years β EMI should be βΉ8,678. Our calculator output: βΉ8,678. Cross-checked against SBI's official home loan EMI calculator. β
BMI Calculator β verified against WHO and ICMR reference values
Formula: BMI = weight (kg) Γ· height (m)Β². Verification: 70 kg, 1.75 m β BMI = 70 Γ· 3.0625 = 22.86. Category under WHO global standards: Normal (18.5β24.9). Under ICMR/Asian standards: Normal (18.5β22.9). Our calculator applies both cutoffs and notes which standard applies. Cross-checked against WHO's BMI-for-age reference tables. β
GST Calculator β verified against CBIC notification data
Formula (adding GST): Final price = Base price Γ (1 + rate/100). Formula (removing GST): Base price = Inclusive price Γ· (1 + rate/100). Verification: βΉ1,000 base at 18% β βΉ1,180 inclusive. Reverse: βΉ1,180 Γ· 1.18 = βΉ1,000.00. Cross-checked against GSTN's official tax calculator at gst.gov.in. GST rate slabs verified against CBIC notification 01/2017-Central Tax (Rate) and subsequent amendments. β

Frequently asked questions
How do you verify calculator formulas?
Every formula is traced to a primary source: RBI circulars, CBIC guidelines, Income Tax Act, WHO guidelines, ICMR reference values, or ISO standards. No formula is published without a verifiable reference.
How are calculator outputs tested?
Each calculator is tested against at least 5 known input/output pairs including edge cases (zero values, large numbers, maximum inputs). Results are cross-checked against official government calculators where available.
What happens when regulations change?
Finance pages (GST, income tax, EPF) are updated immediately when CBIC, CBDT, or EPFO announce changes. Health reference ranges are updated when WHO or ICMR publish revised guidelines.
How do I report a calculation error?
Email us at hello@icalcapp.com to report any error. Include the calculator URL, your inputs, the result shown, and the expected result. We review all error reports within 48 business hours.
Are iCalcApp calculators suitable for professional use?
Our calculators are accurate for planning and educational purposes. For professional, legal, or official financial decisions, always use official government tools or consult a qualified professional.
